  • Click on the link studentloans.gov/myDirectLoan/index.action
  • As the window appears, now on the Sign in button to start the application process.
  • If you already a registered student for this loan program, then enter your required information in the respective fields like Social Security Number (SSN), the first two characters of the last name, date of Birth and the PIN number.
  • If you are a new user of this website, then skip the step 3 and click on the PIN link available for the unregistered user.
  • As the new window appears, with the PIN instructions. You need to read carefully all the mentioned instructions before apply for the PIN.
  • Click on the “Apply now” button available to the right box of the window.
  • The mentioned information about the application for this PIN is available with the required steps. Read all carefully before click on the “next” option available on the page.
  • Click on the “next” button to start the process.
  • Now the form requires your personal information. So enter your social security number in the require field. This number would be printed on your student SSN card.
  • Re-enter your SSN as you have entered in the step 9 again in the next field as a confirmation.
  • Enter your last name in the given field.
  • Enter your first name in the given field.
  • Enter your middle name initials in the require field.
  • Now enter your date of birth in the require field.
  • Enter your mailing address in the given field. This mailing address will get the necessary mails from the bank.
