According to the reports, the Colorado farmers are expected to receive $160,000 in grants while in an attempt to help them against the water scarcity problems as they are facing in the near future. The state money will be used to carry out the research and there will be a number of groups involved. That means that the funds will not be directly given to the farmers.

The funds are requested by the Water Preservation Partnership and it will be utilized over a period of two years to find a solution to the rate of pumping issue that is a big problem.

According to the explanations, the main supply is coming from the 8 plains states and it is the major fresh water supply in the country. Here, the biggest area of concern is that the less water is going in and too much is coming out. That means that it’s a big fear that there will not be enough water to water the crops in the near future.

Chris Goemans, who is a Colorado State economist said that, there are undoubtedly be concern over this issue, but lack of certainty about a solution “what should we do, and what happens if we do that?”

The big concern is that if the situation remains the same as it is, then within 10 years the wells will dry up. There have been fears in Nebraska and Texas for some time, but now, the big issue is clearly spreading in the Colorado as well.

For the Colorado, there have been examples to look at and of course, they are not starting from scratch that is good news. Kansas was facing the same issues once and they have succeeded in solution and the same way Colorado is going to do it.
