October 2008

FARGO, N.D. — Leaders of the Three Affiliated Tribes are scheduled to be in Fargo later this month to discuss water issues with Mayor Dennis Walaker.

City Administrator Pat Zavoral says tribal officials are worried about a plan to bring Missouri River water to Fargo in times of drought, and how it would affect tribal water supplies.

Zavoral says the meeting is tentatively set for Oct. 29. He says it will be the first time Walaker and tribal leaders discuss the issue face to face.

A 2005 estimate put the cost of the proposed Red River Valley Water Supply project at $660 million.
