MADISON, Tenn. -- Hays Nissan here hosted a special 3-day "RainMan" promotion from June 6th through June 8th that could give fortunate car buyers a brand new free car.
How does it work? According to the announcement by Barry Busby, General Manager of Hays, Nissan, "Just purchase or lease any new or used vehicle we have in stock on June 6th, 7th or 8th. If it rains as little as 1 inch* on July 4th, 1998, you will be issued a refund check for the full amount of your purchase. I know it sounds too good to be true, but we're serious: Purchase or lease any vehicle in stock and if it rains on the Fourth of July, 1998, your car could be free!"
The stipulation of the contest was that the rainfall total must be 1" or greater between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and noon on July 4th, 1998, as officially recorded at the Nashville Airport.
Hays Nissan is under pressure from management to reduce their inventory as quickly as possible, an ad for the dealership read. "Our inventory of new and used vehicles is at an all-time high -- and we're expecting large summer shipments soon," Busby said. "We've got to sell a lot of cars very quickly, and I think the RainMan Promotion will be the fastest way to reduce our inventory. I expect over 150 people to leave Hays Nissan with great cars at great prices -- maybe even free!"
All cars were on display at 1550 Gallatin Road in Madison. Customers were able to choose from a large selection of new Nissan cars, trucks, vans and sport utilities. Over $3 million worth of pre -- owned vehicles were also be available, priced from $5995, Busby said, "With a selection this big, chances are we have what you're looking for in stock and ready to drive home."
Hays Nissan allowed all vehicles to be available with the RainMan offer. "You don't have to do anything special to get the RainMan deal -- just come see us at Hays Nissan'" Busby said. 'We have no way of knowing what the Fourth of July forecast is going to be, but I guarantee our RainMan customers will be praying for rain!"
"The RainMan is a brand new promotion to us, and everyone at the dealership is really excited," Busby continued. "This is going to be fun! We get to drastically reduce our inventory, and it's a no-lose situation for our customers. Come rain or shine on the Fourth of July, our customers can be confident that they got a great deal."
