KENT, Wash. -- As part of a World Bank loan for environmental cleanup, a contract to
supply wastewater monitoring equipment to the City of Wuxi (pronounced woo-
SHEE) in central China has been awarded to the Robison Construction Group (RCI)
of Kent. Under the contract, facilitated by the Seattle-based international trading firm
of Associates International, RCI will furnish approximately $292,000 of water quality
monitoring equipment and other instrumentation.

In order to familiarize the Chinese with current wastewater and environmental monitoring
technology, RCI and Associates International recently hosted a delegation of officials
from Wuxi who toured a wastewater treatment plant at Renton, Wash. Located about
100 miles northwest of Shanghai, the city of Wuxi and its 1.5 million residents plans
to double its wastewater treatment capacity over the next two years at a projected
cost of some $37 million.
