SINGAPORE -- Sponsors of the second international exhibition on water
technology in Asian markets note that the rapid urbanization and
industrialization in many parts of the Asian continent have resulted in the
large movement of people from rural areas to urban centers. Most of the
existing infrastructure for water supply and treatment is severely
overburdened, notes the announcement for Aquatech Asia 96, which will be held
in the Singapore International Convention and Exhibition Center next June
24-26.

Aquatech Asia is expected to draw hundreds of top senior executives involved
in the water and sewage industries from the heavily populated regions of
China, Indonesia, Taiwan, Japan, Korea, Thailand, Malaysia, Hong Kong, and
Singapore. "Privatization of water supply and waste disposal in many
countries spell immense investment opportunities," it is stated. In Malaysia,
up to $15 billion is expected to be spent over the next three to five years
on improving and expanding the nation's water supply network. Information on
the Aquatech Asia exhibition is available from RAI Singapore, telephone (65)
272-2250, Fax (65) 272-6744.
