SAN DIEGO -- The most generous retrofit incentive yet offered by the San Diego County Water Authority -- vouchers, worth up to $95 per urinal or approved 1.6-gallon toilet -- is now available to commercial, industrial, and institutional property owners in 21 participating San Diego County water districts.
Restaurants, bars, office buildings, schools, bookstores, and gas stations are just a few examples of properties which qualify for the financial incentive. The ultra-low-flush (ULF) fixture vouchers are treated like coupons by participating wholesale and retail stores, guaranteeing an immediate discount of up to $95 when a urinal or Authority-approved toilet is purchased.
Business and property owners looking for ways to reduce unnecessary expenses have great opportunities in their restrooms, said Water Authority figures. Water use and related expenses can be reduced by up to 68 percent when an approved 1.6-gallon toilet replaces a 5-gallon model.
Time is the only factor limiting the number of vouchers which can be issued to qualified properties. The vouchers are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis until May 30, while supplies last. Following are a few program guidelines.
